Our Guests for Thanksgiving Weekend

Dave and I had some guests coming over this weekend: my good friend Susanne, her husband Patrick, their cute daughter, Caitlin, and her good friend Rebecca. I made a few Chinese dishes. We also made dumplings. The girls did a very good job making dumplings and the lunch turned out to be pretty good. Later in the afternoon, we walked along Harvard St., where Susanne showed me her first apartment, only two blocks away from mine.

It was really joyful afternoon except that Dave had to take me to the hospital because my middle finger on my left hand was very swollen. It turned out that my finger was inflected probably because I cut my finger nail too short, so I had a very small surgery to clean the infection out.  I was exhausted after we came back home.

Day 1: Thanksgiving Meal

Making Thanksgiving dinner was great fun. Except for the turkey (which we bought pre-cooked at Whole Foods), we made all the traditional dishes.

Dave was the great chef of the day. I had no clue what to cook. I even suggested that we use chicken as an alternative since neither of us ever prepared turkey.

Finally everything was ready. The food was delicious.

Day 0: Getting ready for Turkey Day

Because of logistic reasons, we decided to stay in Boston for Thanksgiving this year. A couple of weeks ago, we started to discuss about the list of dishes we wanted to put on the table on the 22nd. Since neither of us ever prepared turkeys before, we decided to buy a pre-cooked one from Wholefood. Besides the turkey, we also ordered gravy. I offered to prepare pumpkin pie and cranberry relish. So it looks like we are almost ready for tomorrow. Stay tuned for our post of Thanksgiving dinner.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Leaf Peeping

We've gone on a couple of short trips in search of fall foliage. The foliage isn't especially colorful this year. From what I've read, this is due to the unusually dry and sunny weather that we had during the summer (it's a worthwhile tradeoff if you ask me).
